New openings
The technology checklist for a new hospitality opening
The questions operators should answer before the opening team arrives on site, from connectivity and suppliers to handover and live support.
Opening a hotel, restaurant, club or leisure venue is a long chain of dependencies. Technology should be planned as part of the operating model, not left as a final installation task.
Start with the guest journey
Map every guest and colleague touchpoint: arrival, access, reservations, payment, Wi-Fi, communications and close-down. This makes it easier to see which systems need resilience and which suppliers need to be involved early.
Give every dependency an owner
A launch plan is only useful when responsibility is unambiguous. Document what the internal team, IT partner, software vendor and installer each own, including the escalation path for opening week.
Treat handover as a milestone
Testing, documentation and a support-ready environment are part of the opening. Make time for a controlled handover so the team knows how to get help once the venue is trading.
