The challenge
What the venue needed
Soho House Tokyo brought the group's fourth Asian house to the city's Aoyama district: four floors of club space, a rooftop pool and terrace, 42 bedrooms and event spaces, in a building where the physical installation would be carried out by a local contractor and the hardware procured directly by Soho House. MicroNet Global's task was to own the design, configuration and integration layer across a language barrier and an eight-hour time difference, meet the group's global network standards exactly, and hand the finished site to the group's incoming managed support provider without a gap in service.
Our approach
What MicroNet delivered
- 01
Designed the core network to Soho House's global standard, creating the IP schema and VLAN structure from the group's agreed template and recording the allocation in the group's monitoring platform, so Tokyo reads the same way as every other house in the estate.
- 02
Configured the Aruba core and edge switching estate, applying firmware upgrades, stack configuration, VLAN and port allocation, with the bulk completed remotely alongside the onsite contractor and a final configuration sweep carried out in person.
- 03
Configured the security and connectivity layer: the group's hosted cloud firewall platform and its SD-WAN appliances, across two diverse fibre services running primary and failover.
- 04
Took the 103 access points identified by the local partner's predictive wireless survey, covering public areas, guest bedrooms and outdoor spaces, and added, configured and documented every one on Soho House's cloud wireless controller with the required SSIDs.
- 05
Built the Active Directory, group policies and file and folder structure on the group's hosted SharePoint platform to agreed templates, and configured back-office printing.
- 06
Liaised with the local IT partner and the client’s own technical team through third-party integration for CCTV, door access, building management, security and telephony, then produced the network documentation and diagrams that formed the handover pack.

Outcome
What the venue got
Outcomes as published by MicroNet Global for this project.
A group standard held at distance, with the IP schema, VLAN structure, directory and file structure all built to Soho House templates rather than improvised locally.
Wireless coverage across every zone of the house, from club floors and guest bedrooms to the rooftop pool and terrace, managed from the group's existing cloud controller.
Connectivity with no single point of failure, across two diverse fibre services with SD-WAN managing failover.
A clean division of labour, with the local partner owning cabling, mounting and patching while MicroNet Global owned design, configuration and integration, each working to a defined scope.
A documented handover, with network diagrams and configuration records completed and transferred, and interim service desk cover in place until the group's managed support provider took the site on.
