The challenge
What the venue needed
Arcade Covent Garden is a multi-kitchen food hall where independent kitchen operators, a shared bar and a single ordering and payments platform all sit on one network. Food halls concentrate technical load in a way conventional restaurants do not, with many concurrent POS endpoints, high guest device density, third-party operators arriving with their own equipment, a network distributed across a main comms cabinet and two secondary cabinets, and a fixed practical completion date bounded by the cabling contractor’s programme.
Our approach
What MicroNet delivered
- 01
Deployed a pair of next-generation firewalls configured for high availability with automatic failover and premium threat protection, with fibre internet from a diverse carrier provider.
- 02
Supplied and configured Layer 3 managed PoE switching with 10Gb uplinks distributed across the main comms cabinet and two secondary cabinets, with spanning tree, virtual stack configuration, VLANs and port allocation.
- 03
Delivered network segregation by VLAN across kitchen operators, guest, payment, management and building systems.
- 04
Completed a predictive wireless heat map to position the access points, added and documented them on the UniFi cloud controller with the required SSIDs, and carried out a physical post-installation survey.
- 05
Deployed the Fydelia guest Wi-Fi platform with a branded splash page, configured and tested against the wireless network ahead of opening.
- 06
Published a patching schedule so each kitchen operator and provider connected to a defined port on a defined VLAN, and reviewed network structure and patching with every third-party installation team.

Outcome
What the venue got
Outcomes as published by MicroNet Global for this project.
Many operators on one network, segregated by VLAN on shared infrastructure.
No single point of failure at the edge, with paired firewalls and diverse-carrier internet.
Wireless coverage proven twice, predictively before installation and physically after.
A branded guest experience live and tested before opening.
A repeatable template, adapted from a model already proven at the brand’s earlier venues rather than designed from scratch under time pressure.
